The water has arrived in the Delta and we are currently cut off from most of the islands where some of the prides are spending most of there time. The animals are spread out so sightings are extremely scarce. 2 Lion-sightings in a month only. What was nice is a few cheetah sightings and also a few leopard sightings, but very skittish. But our best sighting was 12 Lions that killed an elephant bull. It’s sad to see these giants perish, and always difficult to capture an image that doesn’t show the gruesome details. We spend a few days there and it took a week before everything was devoured by over a 1000 vultures, hyena, and jackal, and a leopard also popped in, but kept an eye on the whole situation from a distance. Our base gets also visited more often, even a leopard and lion roared past our tent. It’s so nice being surrounded by all these magnificent animals. We feel much safer here than in the cities, believe it or not!
Enjoy and see you soon.

Bushlife 101.
Good morning everyone, after our first month out in the field, were slowly settling in. After getting stuck in mud, water crossings, sand, punctures and and and… were getting to know the area well. Although we hear a lot of predator action, sometimes they are on islands not accessible for vehicles! Found leopards with cubs, lions roaring every night and beautiful cheetahs on the open plains close to Third Bridge. Hyenas in the camp and plenty of other game on the plains. Even saw a beautiful sable bull today and a 1000 buffalo cruising through our camp, the smell still lingers! LOL ! Were quickly re-supplying in Maun today and in 2 days I’m back in the bush! Its great to finally start to work on our project, after so many delays. Anyways, here is an aerial shot of our base.
The CookieMonster!
Good morning everyone. Exciting times, at last we are packing today to set up base inside the Moremi Game Reserve. We will be leaving Maun tomorrow, to start working immediately on arrival. After looooooong delays and a lot of paperwork, permits and imports we are bursting with excitement to start our Delta journey. Where we are there is no reception, email, contact with the outside world. All we have is each other and a beautiful shady tree. And of course all the amazing wildlife around us. We will try and write a week or two weekly blog to keep you updated about sightings.
We share with you today a photo of the Khwai ‘CookieMonster,” an often heard, seldom seen animal that and only comes out at night! Enjoy!
LAST HURDLE!
Good morning everyone. At last we are almost ready to set up base. The last hurdle was to import our working vehicle. All the permits are done, and now the vehicle has a Botswana numberplate to round things off. Within the next few weeks we will set up a permanent base in the Moremi Game Reserve area. Game has been scarce because of the late rains, but things are drying up slowly, hopefully by mid-June sightings will increase. After a month of driving around in mud, water and thick Mopani the hight of the grass are slowly getting shorter which makes sightings easier. It took us 4 weeks to spot our first leopard and she bounced from one branch to another and posed beautifully.
Me and Noa will keep you updated on our progress and where we will eventually set up base. We are looking forward to start working full steam until 2017 to capture the beauty of the Okavango and surrounding reserves.
Rough Start!
As a new adventures begins, there will always be delays and frustrations. Just as we were about to start our new project our ‘Ark’ gave problems, after waiting for a few weeks for parts, we were packed and off we went, just to be delayed by more vehicle problems. Three days in the field and more parts arrived with a bush plane. After years in the Kalahari, dust and no water, now water crossings are also a daily routine. By now I know the under carriage of the Landy extremely well! The first 60 days we had probably 2 productive weeks out in the field. Very frustrating, but slowly we are getting into rhythm, vehicle is still not 100% but it’s behaving a lot better! Also the import of vehicles and all the little details that needs to be fine-tuned takes time! Africa! The sightings has also been quiet, seeing that the grass is still very high. But frequent wildog sightings. They are amazing animals and to see them a huge privilege. The Delta is diverse in every way and there is so much to photograph! Soon we will settle in and getting to know this wonderful waterway of Africa. We are still exploring all the different areas and corners of the Delta. Trying to find the most productive areas for photography and filming. Up to now ellies are plenty-full, seeing up to hundreds a day and they are everyday in our campsite.
Photographic Safaris – Award Winning Chiefs Island
Good afternoon everyone. We are slowly settling in the Okavango Delta. We will be based in and around the Moremi Game Reserve for our first part of our project. We also have put out 2 fantastic Photographic safaris on the Exclusive Chiefs Island. The award winning Chief’s Camp is located on Chief’s Island in the Mombo Concession of the world-renowned Moremi Game Reserve. This area is known as the ‘Predator Capital of Africa’ and is ideal for game viewing. The luxurious camp is ideal for an exciting Photographic Safari due to the vast numbers of animals that congregate all year round. Chief’s Island is one of the many islands created by the seasonal flood waters of the Okavango Delta and is well-known for the finest game viewing in Southern Africa.
As the predator capital of the world, the game viewing is awe-inspiring. But apart from its predators, the Moremi is also renowned for its large concentrations of plains-game, elephant and buffalo.
You will also no doubt see giraffe, impala and zebra. Endangered wild dog also make this area their home. Several lion prides as well as genet cats and hyena also live in abundance here. Like the rest of the Okavango Delta, the area is a paradise for bird lovers, with over 500 species.
Let us know if you are interested and we will forward you more details.
