Good afternoon everyone, we are extending the book-special, because a lot of people missed out due to the long weekends.

The Dark Side of the Kalahari is Hannes Lochner’s third and latest addition to his book collection. He recently returned from a two year, 100 000 Km journey in the Kalahari (Kgalagadi) Desert, capturing the life of a single leopard female and her struggle to raise cubs in this extremely harsh environment. This is more of a storybook than just pretty pictures, also covering the adventures of characters such as Luna, the leopard, in the main role. It is a 200 page book in full colour, which slides into a protective box, just like the first two books in this series.

COMING SOON! ‘The Dark Side of the Kalahari’

Good afternoon everyone, me, Noa & Tom Moerel (the writer of my new publication), is hard at work here in Switzerland! While I’m doing the layout of the book and go through thousands of photographs, Noa is preparing her clips for the Apps that will be available with the book in digital format. This will be launched with the book at the latest July. Tom, who also designed the Apps and the new website is hard at work making it very ‘user friendly!’ We are excited to send the book off next month to the printers and take a break for a while! We’re also having a bit of fun and not just work! We’re hiding away in a little mountain village and it’s covered in 3 feet of snow! My first snowboard lesson was a disaster, a little unfit I might add! SNOW IS NOT SOFT, for those of you that’s interested! My skiing lessons was much easier and lots of fun, and now with a bit more confidence, even the snow feels softer! Thanks Tom for being a great teacher!!!!

On the book front, the book is available on my website for a 20% discount, you can purchase it straight away, and it will be delivered once in South Africa. If you want the book signed, you can just bring it along to one of the launch venues or drop me a email at info@lochnerphoto.com and let me know what to write in the front of the book before I ship it to the delivery address.

Click on the link below to watch a short promo-clip made by Noa of what to expect in our latest publication, ‘The Dark Side of the Kalahari.’
We hope you enjoy it and look forward to our new publication.

Final Post for 2012!

Good morning everyone, it has been a wonderful two years in the Kalahari, and we are all packed up and ready to take on the slopes of South Tyrol and Switzerland! Noa is already in Italy to enjoy Xmas with her family. I’ll be joining her on the 27th of December! From + 40 Degrees to – 10 degrees in 48 hours!!! We were sad to leave our home and to pack up and drive out the park just to see the gate disappears in the review mirror, but we are very excited to start working on our projects! We will keep you in the loop on whats happening and when the book and applications will be available. After the sweat, tears and extremely hard work, we are ready to start designing the publications and go through two years of filming and photographs. I would just like to thank Noa for all her support and hard work, and was an privilege to have worked beside you and all the incredible moments we shared, you are an amazing person & talented filmmaker! This will be our last blog for 2012 and hope everyone has a wonderful festive season! Im off to be with my family, friends, crayfish & cold wine on the coast.
We share with you today one of our favourite subjects, Luna!

Final Countdown!

Good morning everyone, we are in our last week here in the Park, so lots of packing in the next few days. It is unbelievable how much stuff you accumulate over a period of two years! Hopefully, we get a goodbye present, and bump into Luna with her two cubs or O’scar, the father of the cubs.
The riverbeds are still littered with eland remains and the jackal is walking around with full bellies. There is also two new male lion in the area, a yellow mane & a beautiful young black mane! We share with you today one of those two males on a dune close to Leeudril waterhole. Enjoy and see you next week for our last blog of this year!

Mufasa’s son!

Good morning everyone! Things are heating up in the kalahari, we had a few days of 40 degrees Celsius, and we also had our first big dust-storm, also thunderstorms, hail and rain! We are in our final month and still lots to do! Hopefully we get everything we need for the publications!
While driving up to the Rooiputs area a few days ago, one of Mufasa’s sons walked past us, he is busy turning into a ‘monster!’, he’s one of the most beautiful lions we have ever seen. Just like his dad! Enjoy and see you soon!

Final Chapter!

Good morning everyone. Its been a crazy 2 weeks for me & Noa. While I was in London, attending the BBC’s Veolia Wildlife Photographic Awards ceremony, Noa was filming in Namibia doing a quick project on relocation of giraffe and zebra in a private game reserve. Both of us are back and in full swing! This is our last month in a very long four and a half years.

London is a crazy city, and I was happy to be back, missed the open spaces, and happy not to get lost. Between me and Heinrich van den Berg, we probably got lost 5 times a day! There are a slightly more roads in London, here we have 2!

I share with you a few photos of London, and Noa’s relocation video stills.

Enjoy and see you soon!
